i pod

Dr Karl from their final show on Triple J in 2006:

[Isn’t there some kind of conspiracy theory that] “because of cable TV they can no longer control our minds with the secret gas that comes out of the TV so now they’re doing it by putting chemicals in the jet engines and dropping it on us from a high altitude so that we will all become mindless people who listen to the radio, and watch TV and listen to iPods, and never have a moment where we can just be ourselves, and that would be the good thing about your surfing [mel]; that you can be out there and you can know that there’s no noise, there’s no radio, there’s just you in your environment. My son went around the world this year and we talked about whether he should take his iPod and I said no, cause you should live and experience what’s around you… I like to be part of the world around me.”

As much as I like my iPod, it is something that needs to be used responsibly. We lose so much when we are constantly wired. Funnily enough I was listening to Karl’s segment via his pod-cast.
